Hello World...

ok, I got that over with.

In this blog, I want to set some expectations going forward. My posts will fall in to two categories: IT career and personal. I will use the personal blogs to write about anything that helps keep me sane while dealing with pouring all the information into my brain bucket. As humans, we can only spend so much time filling our minds with work related studies. While I enjoy the subject matter, I still need to get away.

I will randomly post about my likes and interests. I do not want to talk politics or religion so feel free to relax in the den of my mind. I will have thoughts on World Football focusing on Manchester United F.C. and the related leagues, tournaments and players. I will post on Grand Sumo tournaments and news along with the occasional curling tourney and Winter Sliding Sports.

I will not spend much time on Disney Star Wars, but I might reminisce about the Lucas era and Legends. I do not have much time for new movies so I might come back to them after they hit streaming or cable. I am trying to catch up on some Anime but there is always something new coming out.

With my schedule including driving and housework, I spend more time listening to music and audiobooks. Currently, my Audible library has grown to a massive tower over the last decade with over 325 books and counting. YouTube and Spotify help bring fresh music into my life but there is one thing that has become noticeably clear... I do not like Pop or Top 40 music. The sounds just tear into my spine and make me question the need to hear. Sorry, but that is just the way I feel. Instead, I seek out sub-genres of metal along with various Punk, Goth, Blues and Rock. My current playlists include Kingfish, Popa Chubby, The Dead South, Social Distortion, Rammstein, Joy Division, Ghost, Flogging Molly, The Smiths, Billy Talent, Gary Moore and many others. My top artists are Band-Maid, Babymetal, Alestorm, GloryHammer, Volbeat, Unleash the Archers, St Paul and the Broken Bones and my favorite artist – Samantha Fish.

I may share a YouTube video, but they usually end up on Facebook. I do have a tendency to fall down the YouTube rabbit hole when I find something interesting. I watch a guy in Australia that makes wonderful resin pieces. I watch die-cast car races and marble races. I watch too many reaction videos but I’m trying to cut down. I like to watch videos about Game of Thrones and the ASOIAF books along with Witcher and Westworld.

I have been teaching myself how to play guitar using several sources. It’s slow going because I just don’t have as much time as I need for career studies and family commitments. Within the next year, I will feel comfortable playing rock and blues around humans.

I am a licensed ham radio operator with my General class license. I am studying for the Amateur Extra exam so I will have complete access to the amateur bands. Unfortunately, I just have too many exams on my plate, so radio is a little bit down the road. I don’t have a full ham shack yet; I just have a couple of handheld radios that I use mostly for monitoring events and emergencies. I missed cut off for FCC license fees so it will actually cost to get my upgrade so...

I will not talk about my current job or any of the day-to-day situations that I must deal with. I will not talk about my family live unless I get specific permission because I do not want their private information flowing out into the public. As time goes on, these might change but I keep the privacy of those around me as a priority.

I haven't come up with a catch phase so for now, have a day.
